Henry’s family recollections
Henry remembers a Glasgow connection for Isabel. The tree gives her birthplace as Staffa Street, Glasgow. Henry recalls that Frank and Isabel moved south before their son Stuart was born in Bristol on 16 February 1948. The tree records Frank in Glasgow in 1947. The exact date of the move is unknown. By the time Stuart was born, the family home was on Ilchester Crescent in Bristol. Henry remembers that Isabel worked for Imperial Tobacco in Bristol.
Henry describes his grandparents as “quiet, humble types”. He recalls that Stuart found their outlook frustrating. In Stuart’s eyes, his parents did not aspire to “better themselves”. Stuart himself was determined to rise through the ranks at work.
